New YouTube Video - Tackle Any Terrain?

What would you - or could you do with ONE bike and two very different sets of wheels/tires?  I took my Surly Midnight Special out to have some fun and find out where it'd take me.  I learned that while it can’t keep up with a full-on mountain bike with suspension, it can certainly handle rough roads and XC mountain bike trails with ease.  With road wheels and tires, it feels exactly like a normal road bike.  Race by day – party by night?  We’ll go with it.

This type of bike has MUCH more capability than a standard “skinny tire road bike”, with essentially no penalty (when you use skinny tires with it, you just have extra clearance surrounding the tire).  In contrast, a standard road bike can ONLY fit skinny tires, without the option to go big.

If you prefer the simplicity of rim brakes, there are still a few options such as the Surly Cross Check.  These bikes are great for those looking to downsize or minimize their stable of bikes.
